Description
Pink float weave depicts a couple with a dog (?) at the centre of this 1920s-30s Ewe kente woman’s cloth. The patterning spirals round the cloth adding complexity towards the centre, culminating in the unusual extended figurative motif placed just where it would be visible at the front of the cloth wrapped around the wearer. Apart from being an interesting effect this was undoubtedly cheaper than commissioning the weaver to cover the entire cloth with similar motifs. In excellent condition.
Measurements 5.7″ x 3’8″, 169 cm x 112.
