Description
NW550 – Two panel Yoruba woman’s wrapper cloth, iro, dating from the late 1960s or early 1970s. An attempt by the weaver to compete with fashionable aso oke styles is apparent in the large scale weft float decoration on the industrial cotton ground. Although once probably plentiful few of these cloths survived to be collected and we found this example in Ghana. Good condition, one tiny hole.
Measurements: 74 ins x 48 189cm x 123cm.
