Description
High status man’s “boubou” robe outfit from Jenne in Mali, finely hand embroidered with three shades of silk thread on a white cotton strip weave ground. Not especially old, dating perhaps from the 1980s, but rare to find robes that still used local hand woven cloth rather than imported damask. This would have been an expensive luxury garment for a wealthy man, perhaps for wear during his wedding. Comes complete with an under robe and trousers from the same fabric. Very wearable or for display.
