Description
Soft indigo blue hand spun cotton cover cloth from a Fulani or Bamana weaver in Mali, woven around mid C20th. Made up of nine strips arranged so that the variation in shades of blue adds visual interest. Paired narrow white weft stripes are broken up by two broader blocks of three stripes across the cloth. This is quite an unusual design within the repertoire of blue and white cotton cloths in the region. There are a couple of small faint marks but overall the cloth is in neat complete condition.
Measurements 8′ x 4’2″, 244 cm x 126.
