Description
Made up of two wide panels joined at the centre, this unusual woman’s wrapper cloth is from a town called Igarra just south of the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers in central Nigeria. Relatively elaborate ikat patterning runs down both edges of the cloth, framing multiple blue and white stripes. Dates from circa 1950 – 60sand is in excellent condition.
Measurements 5’2″ x 3’9″, 156 cm x 113.
