Description
Subtle colour effects are achieved by the weaver of this fine Ewe kente chief’s cloth by setting out a regular grid of paired weft faced blocks on a solid background that is built up from a red weft muted by a black warp. Small white or yellow weft float motifs are set between the paired blocks. In excellent condition, dates from around the 1930s.
Measurements 115 inches X 76, 292 cm X 193.
