Description
Blocks of weft stripes in a soft pink and yellow with some green are set in groups of three in a regular grid layout on a dark blue and white striped cotton ground for this attractive Ewe kente men’s cloth. A brighter red replaces the pink in just one set of blocks adding a note of irregularity to the design. Borders at both ends of the cloth are built up from more densely packed weft blocks in rows alternated with rows of red and yellow extra weft floats. Dates from circa 1900-1920. Condition is excellent.
Measures 118 inches X 77, 300 cm X 195.
