Description
Soft thick hand spun indigo dyed cotton asooke cloth was used to tailor this handsome dashiki style Yoruba men’s robe, probably made circa 1930s. This large check pattern was called “petuje” which roughly translates as surpasses “etu”, the prestigious finely checked guineafowl pattern. Very wearable and in excellent condition.
