Description
The red, green and yellow warp stripe pattern of this classic Asante silk kente cloth was called Ammere Oyokoman, a variation of the more frequently found Oyokoman design, a name that refers to the matrilineage of the Asante king, the Asantehene. Here the weaver has added a good variety of neatly woven geometric float motifs in the central field framed by typical more densely patterned borders. Some neat patched repairs and very good neat overall condition. Dates from circa 1920s to 1930s.
Measurements 123 inches X 80, 313 cm X 213.
