Description
Really pleasing mixed strip “Kita” cloth from Ivory Coast, circa 1970s. The work of a weaver from the Baule people or one of the smaller Akan ethnic groups in eastern Ivory Coast. Weavers would assemble these mixed cloths from leftover strips resulting in all sorts of haphazard and serendipitous combinations. The cloth is lighter than Ghanaian kente, woven from cotton throughout, and in excellent condition.
Measurements 9’10” x 5’11, 298 cm x 181.
