Description
Pairs of large birds (peacocks ? turkeys ?) form stripes across this mid C20th woman’s wedding wrapper from a weaver of the Manjak people of Guinea Bissau. The monochrome palette of white float motifs on grey is unusual, typically these cloths were multicoloured and today very bright indeed. A few faint marks otherwise in very good complete condition.
Measurements 185 cm x 120, 6’1″ x 3′ 11″
