Description
Little flecks of colour add subtle highlights to the central area of this soft thick hand spun indigo and white cotton Hausa “luru” cloth from northern Nigeria. Dates to around 1930-1950, later examples made much greater use of red and orange thread and often became somewhat garish. From this period they are quite rare.
Measurements 6’7″ x 4’1″, 202 cm x 125.
