Description
Fulani weavers in Mali updated their traditional indigo and white checkerboard cloths and more elaborate wool hangings in the second half of the twentieth century to create dramatic new styles of wedding hanging. On this piece there is a reworking of traditional wool weaving motifs in a pretty range of cotton colours to pleasing effect. There is a long narrow rust stain at one end of the cloth, otherwise in good neat condition. Dates from circa 1970s.
Measurements 8’9″ x 4’3″, 658 cm x 128.
