Description
Made up of two wide panels joined at the centre, this woman’s wrapper cloth is from the ancient Yoruba kingdom of Owo. Broad and narrow stripes of deep wine red, dark and light indigo blue, and white, are crossed by more widely spaced stripes across the cloth. Narrow wrap stripes of blue and white ikat were an Owo Yoruba speciality. Dates from circa 1930 -1950 and is in excellent condition. Measurements 5’4″ x 3’11”, 163 cm x 118.
