Description
Frogs, lizards, birds, fish, people – finely woven figurative weft float motifs are framed by pairs of striped blocks against a mainly dark blue and green ground on this fine Ewe kente woman’s cloth. Cloths with this quantity and quality of figurative motifs are increasingly scarce. There’s some wear apparent in places but overall condition of this lovely cloth is still very good. Dates from circa 1930s.
