Description
Simple beige and white striped Yoruba asooke woman’s wrapper cloth from Nigeria. Although this resembles a prestigious early C20th wild silk sanyan cloth, it is actually a later copy in cotton, probably dating from around 1960s. The seams between the strips are sewn using a sewing machine rather than hand stitched as they were on original pieces. Nevertheless it is a strong attractive piece that would be great for interiors projects or pillows.
