Description
Classic example of the chequerboard style of prestige cloths woven by both Fulani and Bamana weavers in the region north of Segou in Mali. Thick hand spun indigo dyed cotton, with white lines crossing each blue block in the central section. These cloths were called koso damiye or dampe after the French word for checkerboard, damier.
Would work as a dhurrie type rug in a low traffic spot, or as a throw or hanging. In excellent complete condition, a couple of tiny faint marks.
Measurements 8′ 4″ x 4′ , 254 cm x 122.
