Description
Black and white cloths, as opposed to dark indigo blue and white, are not common in West Africa. This black and white elaboration of a checkerboard design is the work of a Fulani or perhaps Bamana weaver in Mali around the 1960s, adapting and updating the ancient blue and white prestige cloth tradition. Although neatly finished at both ends this cloth is perhaps truncated from it’s original length. Nevertheless it remains a decorative interiors piece.
Measurements 6’5″ x 5′, 196 cm x 152.
